Kay Hagen Virtual Art Show

JoannaHi

Here is how it all got started. On my long hikes I have a lot of time to think and most of what I think about has to do with the environment and this “throw away” culture in which we live.  I have given a lot of thought to it and I ask myself, “What can I do?”  What came up for me was to do an art show about how we can make changes, make better choices for the Earth.

Thank you so much, kaya

Earth Bones

A Boneyard is a storage space for obsolete items. Similar to the term’s original meaning, a cemetery, Boneyard refers to the storage or cannibalization of retired items and machinery with no utility….Boneyard and graveyard are often used interchangeably.

Has the Earth, our home, become a Boneyard of obsolete, retired items with no utility? Have we used all of her resources to exhaustion and if so, now what?

This show is to wake us up and inspire us to do more for her, for ourselves. It is my hope to give hope and ideas on how we can work together to find answers for a better way of living.

From the book “Erosion” by Terry Tempest Williams…. “Our undoing is also our becoming. We are one with the land, not apart from it. We need not lose hope, we just need to locate where it dwells. We need human endeavor and intelligence, but we also need the intelligence of the wild. Let us hold each other close and be kind. May we be brave enough to feel it deeply, and then Act. Can self-love and self-respect become love and respect for the planet? Is Earth not enough? A story is awakening. We are part of something much larger than ourselves, an interconnected whole that stretches upward to the stars.”

Change begins with waking up, realizing I can do something. I can refuse to buy non-recyclables, I can re-use what I have, I can reduce my impact, I can re-cycle what I can. Let’s not be a “throw away” society any longer!!

Change begins locally, so let’s teach others Nature’s way. This is why all of the sales of Art will go to www.Wildernessrites.com, where women learn Earth based living.

In the wisdom of the Earth, nothing is wasted, but is returned for the benefit of the whole. This is Earth Bones
